Olympics Skaters

It is nice to see the skaters moving their arms from their wings: Yuzuru Hanyu, Patrick Chan, Mao Asada, Carolina Kostner. The elegance and projection of Carolina and Mao and the sheer joy of movement and projection of Meryl Davis and Charlie White is astounding. The different focus levels work. Daisuke Takahashi and Jason Brown have superb, varying focus levels. We’ll be covering the wings and projection in the workshops in London and Firenze so enjoy these gorgeous athletes that are exquisite. Yulia Lipnitskaya needs to learn such projection in order to be interesting to watch.. she looks blank.

Healthy eating

It is cheap, delicious and quick to eat nutritious foods. At our Farmer’s Market it costs $5 for 3 large heads of yummy, nutty kale. It takes only a few minutes to wash, cut and steam or saute. If you saute you can add pistachios or pine nuts and dried cranberries. I keep hearing that it is expensive to eat organic and healthy food, and that people don’t have time to prepare such food. This is not true. We are lucky in California to have farmer’s markets all year round. You can roast vegetables which brings out some incredible flavors. You can try sprinkling toasted sesame oil, walnut oil or olive oil over your winter vegetables and serve them with quinoa or lentils.  For a snack you can roll up kale in a piece of ham (or vice versa), or place the ham pieces in the vegetables. In the winter, try to eat warm food. If you prepare a lot of vegetables at a time, they are very nice warmed up for a snack or for lunch too.

New Year’s Health

Sleep is an important part of staying healthy and looking good. If you lack sleep or are stressed your tummy can get puffy and distends out (they call it “cortisol belly”). It is very obvious with some of my clients.  I can tell when they have not slept well or are stressed. This will dimish your ability to use your center. Lacking sleep interferes in hormones and can increase the urge to eat and snack more. So the key to performance is getting enough sleep. When I have a consultation with Dr. Wonson for acupuncture, I can pull in my belt 2 more holes after the session, as well as feeling calm!
